Today's Wonder of the World is...the Turtle.

Because slow and steady often wins the race. And because their shells are amazing, not to mention those flippery arms.
And because they're delicious!

Relax, turtle. I eat only your pecan brothers and sisters.
Or maybe this fellow.

A turtle, mysteriously appearing in a bundt cake! I would give it a taste, but it'll probably sell on ebay first.
Lots of folks like turtles.
Maybe it's because they're introverts like me, and envy their ability to pull into their shells whenever they want.

Or maybe they like their freaky eyes

and weird turtle smiles.
Or their love of turtle togetherness.

Perhaps they've been reading too much Yertle!

Remember Yertle?
My boys liked him fine, but they preferred different turtle celebrities.

Have a wonder-full Wednesday, y'all!

One of my favorite things at Epcot was Turtle Talk with Crush:)
They are amazing. Every now and then I see one trying to cross the road. I always pull over and help it out (carefully, of course).
When I was a little girl and playing at a friend's house, the little brother was walking around with a tiny leg wiggling from his mouth. Yes, he had put the bitsy pet turtle in his mouth. Both baby and pet turtle were OK.
Now I want those chocloate things. they looked so good!
Hi there,
I used to collect turtles when I was young. They are so cute.
Great post!

Mmmm! Turtles! So chocolaty and caramelly and pecanny delicious!
The other turtles are great too.
Our youngest, David, had a conversation with Crush at Epcot regarding what they decided was a bow tie. A few minutes later, an older boy declared, "that's not a bow tie, that's a lady's bikini top!" Both four year old Dave and Crush were so embarrassed! Duuuude.
They are so cute!
We have a 70 lb. tortoise in the back yard...our big baby.
Yummy. I love turtle candy -- too much.
Loved your comment about selling the cake on eBay.

I love turtles, too! I had a turtle as a pet! Then everyone in the family ended up with one, LOL! We had a turtle clan! Turtle candies are the best, aren't they!?
Come on over and enter in the giveaway if you would like! I cannot remember if I invited you already or not! :)
I got to swim with the sea turtles in Hawaii and LOVED it! They are so cool. Enjoyed your post!

Hi Becky,
What a fun post. I had a pet turtle as a kid and this post brought back some memories.
Have a wonderful Wed.
love ya,
Barb
Hi Becky,
Loved the post!
Have a great day.
One time in high school I saw a turtle trying to cross the road. I worried it was going to get hurt so I decided to move it.
TURTLES PEE WHEN SCARED.
It peed all over me.
But I still love turtles. You've been warned.
Deb (nature freak) rescued a baby loggerhead at the beach. She carried it into the water past the breakers, which was odd because she was fully dressed (we'd been out to dinner & went for a walk on the beach afterwards) - it was almost dark & we had no towels.... & I just scratched my head.
Some day I'll tell ya about the injured shark she caught by the tail - while standing in thigh-deep water. Sheesh.
Hold on...Adrienne, you have a 70 lb. tortoise in the backyard that's your baby? WHAT? Wow!
You people are awesome.
I have to admit that I prefer the chocolate, nut and caramel type and the teenaged mutant ninja turtles!!!
