This Little Piggy Went to Blogland...

Today's Wonder of the World is...Pigs!

Flickr photo by mostlysunny1
How could you not love a face like that?
Call me Miss Piggy if you must, but, as they say around these parts,
I'm Big On The Pig!

Hey! It's Piggly Wiggly! The grocery store with a pig so charming and charismatic that even smart, talented, handsome literary agents like my favorite one wear Piggly Wiggly shirts in their blog photos!
Now, I love Piggly Wiggly as much as the next Stanford graduate, but I'm not talking here about cute grocery store mascots.
I'm talking about the real thing.
You know, like these little piglets.

Come on. Click on it! It's guaranteed to start your weekend off right!
(If you don't, I might have to squeal on you! )

I don't know about you people, but folks in the Carolinas are hog wild.

Flickr photo by TwistedTeenPhotography
Sorry. That particular pig is scaring me.
Don't tell your pig friends, but Carolinians aren't exactly wanting to snuggle up with the piggies.
(Unless you snuggle up to a barbecue sandwich with slaw.)
But we will not speak of this in this post.

No, just for today we will pretend all pigs are our pets, our friends, whom we love to collect.

And no, these oinkers are not mine. Though I do think they're cute. Especially the pigs in cowboy hats. I snapped that picture at Tommy's Ham House --whoops! We were not going to speak of that.

Let's change the subject, shall we?
We could speak in pig latin.

Ute-cay ig-pay!

Did you ever go through a stage in fourth grade where all you spoke was pig latin, until your parents COULDN'T STAND IT ANYMORE AND PROMISED YOU A PADLOCK FROM THE DOLLAR TREE IF YOU'D PLEASE STOP AND NEVER DO THAT AGAIN?
Not that I'd know anything about that.

You might not believe this, but the French speak Pig Latin too!
Except they call it Louchébem. I'm not kidding!
In Louchébem, you move the first consonant to the end, just as in Pig Latin, you put an L in its place, and then you add suffixes like -ème, -ji, -oc, -muche to the end. (Of course it has to be more complicated than English! It's French, silly you! What do you expect?)
So la femme (woman) becomes Lamfé.
Fun, n'est-ce pas?

Let's stroll our piggy toes down the Walk of Hog Fame.

Look! There's my all time favorite!

Wilbur!

And my favorite's all time favorite!

Max the Star Pig!
Poor Max lived with his owner for 18 long years.
Oh George, if you're still sad, you can cry on my shoulder.
Really, I wouldn't mind.

But if you see these three, hold your breath, you handsome wolf.

They're such hams!
Would you ride in their car?

Flickr photo by elflameboy
I would. When pigs fly!

But I wouldn't mind hanging out with Pigpen.

I'm nuts about bass players.
He and Sam could form a band! Sam could play drums and they could practice in Sam's room.
He'd feel right at home in that pigsty.
So would these cuties.

It's time to go have some weekend fun.
Let's hold hams and we'll walk into the sunset.

That's all Folks!

Have a Wonder-full weekend!

That was a piggy-licious post! Ya know what? I know you don't, so that's why I'm telling you...heehee. I have a game that is called "Pig-Mania". No, really I do! It's got these cute 2 little rubber pigs in it that you shake/roll them and you get points for whatever position they land in. If they are touching at all (even just ears) it's called "makin' bacon" and you get no points for that turn...hee hee! You might really think it's a fun game!

I was hopin' to find out what a pig in a poke was..... My favorite is pulled pork Barbecue.... We've had wild pigs (with tusks) tearing up lawns in my neighborhood.... then there's pork barrel spending -I could do without that... My neighbor has a store in downtown St Augustine called Charlottes Web.... In Philly (where I'm from originally) they make a pork product called scrapple - they claim it contains everything but the oink. I still don't understand why a beef product is called a HAMburger. Have a great weekend.

We would shop at the Pig a lot when I was growing up. Sometimes we even called it the Hoggly Woggly. Did you?

Love the video. that giggle just makes you want to giggle along.

I wish I could do that pig latin thing in french. I heard someone do it one time. It was so weird. I didn't understand a word of it.

Have a great weekend!

That toe-piggies pic is too cute! My girls love going to see the pigs at the local farm, but boy, somedays do we need a noseclip!

I want to register for the "Tour de Pig" bike race up in Lexington, NC. (The home of Western NC BBQ) I would drive there for the t-shirt alone.

Last night I made my signature people-coming-over dish: pulled pork! Praise the lord for pig!

Also I love the Piggly Wiggly. We still have some in Florida. But I'm old enough to remember their competitor the Hogly Wogly. And no, I'm not kidding.

Fun post! I really like your post below on the locks. Oh how I remember the diaries with the little locks. I had a little tiny cedar chest that also locked. Safe from the world and under my control!

That pink pig car could probably fly if those scoops (nose) is any indication of the engine horsepower, oh wait, pig-power!
