Trust Falling into Christmas

Have you ever done a trust fall?
You know, folded your hands across your chest, closed your eyes, and let yourself fall stiff as a board backwards into a group of people, trusting they will catch you?
Given all that touchy-feely stuff I had to do back in RA training in my college days, you'd think I would have experienced more than a few trust falls, but I've never done one.
I think I'll start today.

I'm trust falling into Christmas. Care to join me?

Let's take a deep breath and close our eyes and trust.

Trust that our homes don't have to look like the ones in the magazines.

Trust that we don't have to find the perfect gifts for everyone on our lists, presents that capture who they are and what they enjoy most in life. Trust that gifts are really just not that important.

Trust that we can let go of all the busyness if we just need a little quiet.
A little heavenly peace.

Trust that our blogging friends will understand if after almost three years of blog posts we suddenly disappear for a while. If we stop visiting and unplug for a bit. (Yes, that's me, y'all. And I miss you. Life just got a little hectic and I needed to step away from the computer for a while. I'm fine, thank you, and so enjoying the refreshment of a little break.)

Trust that Christmas is meant for each of us, no matter the degree of peace or chaos in our lives.

Trust that God meant to send us a message by birthing Christ into a dirty stable, not a pristine hospital room. That Christ's first breaths of air were taken in the company of parents who held him close, full of fear and wonder, lost as to what the future might bring.

I'm so thankful for a God who loves us that much.
I'm trusting that this year's celebration of The Greatest Love of All will bless you and carry you happily into the new year.

Much love,
Becky

Hi Becky,

Love the snow-angel picture, and I love your idea about trust-falling into Christmas. Think I'll give it a try.

Hope your December is wonderful!

Becky, I love that trust list! I'm down to blogging only one time a week, if I can. I'll be having a house full for Christmas, so some of my posts may have cookie dough on them.

I am so with you...thankful that God loves us that much. Thankful that my house doesn't have to look perfect because it certainly doesn't. Thankful that my family loves me despite my "off" gift choices. Thankful that you, dear Becky, unplugged and are refreshed.

I think I'm going to follow you shortly into an "unplugged" zone. I need more silence and stillness so I can LISTEN better.

Hey, I just took two weeks off. It was good. I'm back only for a couple and then I'm taking my life back until the new year and falling into Christmas completely with my family. Enjoy your break.

Life is far too complicated for me to fall, trustingly, into Christmas. I'm hoping I can just trust...

"Parents full of fear and wonder" - I love that image. It is so many of us. Aren't the paradoxes of life just the best, the most fascinating?

I just loved this post. It said so much that's been lingering in my heart.

You hit the nail on the head with the "perfect" gift pit. just trust...inHim. I do miss your thoughtful wit but I am such a patchy blogger that I marvel at you and some other bloggy buddies of mine that do so much and also can cohesively put together thoughts and images to share in the blog world...I barely have time to read my faves and for whatever reason it takes me forever to get my thoughts together and post. But I do so enjoy this fellowship and appreciate you catching us up when you can..All that to say enjoy your holiday time and check in when you can....Merry Christmas, Becky!

Hi Becky,
This is Holly Dressman (aka Kloos), also known as Lyla's daughter. Mom sent this to me today. You have such a talent for composing words, this is just BEAUTIFUL!! and speaks to me in so many ways, I am always in awe of how God uses others to speak to us. I am going to take the challenge of trust falling this Christmas and throughout the year.

Hope you and your family have a blessed Christmas and find God's peace throughout the coming year.

Holly, so nice to hear from you! I hope life is being very good to you. I wish you and your family--and my sweet Aunt Lyla--the best Christmas ever!

What a wonderful list of ways to trust God. The list could go on and on.

I'm hitting the bookstore today to find your book. It looks just like a good read over Christmas.

May you have peace and joy... and yes, trust, this Christmas.

Christmas blessings to you as well!

And did you mean me by this, "Trust that our blogging friends will understand if after almost three years of blog posts we suddenly disappear for a while." :) :)

Thanks for sharing, Becky. So often your posts are like a great big wooden spoon dipping into my heart and stirring it up right where it needs it. Lately, life feels a bit like plowing without a mule. I think it's time to say to myself, "give it a break" and start focusing on what's most important.
Have a fine and joyful Christmas.
Love to you, your family and Tanner the slobber dog.

I'd actually like to do that on a heap of snow. Or a pile of snow, I dunno what's the proper term here, because I know heap is used for hay.
