Today's Wonder of the World is...Valentine Weirdness!

Because nothing says I Love You like a creepy vampire cat.
When it comes to celebrating holiday weirdness, you know I'm all for it.
But folks, these old valentines scare me.
Like this one.

Or how about this ...

Yey! Heartworms for Valentine's Day!
Does this seem violent to you?

Wipe that coy smile off your face, buster. I won't be threatened.
Not by you, or your buddy with the light bulb eyes.

I wouldn't be your valentine if you were the last boy on earth. Even if you still wore those cute khaki short shorts.
Even if you stowed me away in a refrigerator.

That one gives me Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater flashbacks. Who put that poor girl in the fridge?
Perhaps, like Blondie below, she's only seeking refuge from an evil, strangely muscular superboy with swirly eyebrows.

People, can't we have happy valentines?
Ones with hearts and flowers... or even clowns?

Yikes!
Maybe not.
Thank goodness times have changed.
People have more sense these days than to allow their little sweethearts to freak out their fellow classmates in the name of love.
We're in the middle of Valentine's Day madness at our house.
Want to see the valentines my sweet Sammy will hand out at school today, with taped on chocolate hearts?
Woo hoo! Chocolate and Valentine bugs! In 3-D!
Have a wonder-full Friday, y'all, and a lovely Valentine's Day!
I hope someone showers you with kisses. (In a non- creepy way, of course!)
Love, Becky
PS. Before you go, take a look at the weirdest valentine I could find on the net. See if you don't agree!

Hmmmm.... VD is tomorrow. NOW I know why our cat has been wearing a red ribbon with hearts on it this week. I never was very good at subtle hints.
I always wonder where people find time to make those videos...
The valentines are hilarious!
VD? Tomorrow!
Okay!?
I think you better check on Jax, Becky. He's been down for the count for a month and is delete button happy. No, not happy.
A military wife! That explains alot!
A happy Val day to you too, girlie!
We must join together, travel to Brooklyn and grant Otto's most cherished wish.
I'm dying laughing here! Where? How? do you find this stuff!?
I am compelled to watch it again.
WOW! Old valentines had one theme and one theme alone: men conquering women at all costs. Fascinating!
I always make my valentines for the Mr. and they are totally bizarre. Last year I made him an Obama-tine and he LOVED it.
Great mix up of a combo of Friday the 13th with Valentines. xooxo
Holy the old ones were so violent.
Love Renee
Hi Becky!
TOO FUNNY! Best Valentine's Day post EVER! Your comments were priceless...I love it!
The buggy valentines your son is giving away also fall into the "creepy" category, you realize? Ewwwwwwwwwwy. Roaches? Beetles? Regardless, not something that makes my heart pitter patter with love.
By the way, congrats on winning Sandra Evertson's Cinderella shoes! Couldn't have happened to a better person! WOOT!
Okay, I'm trying to figure this cat valentine clip out. WTH???
(Those vintage valentines crack me up!) And my son would love those bug valentines.
LOL! LOL! LOL! ohmygosh...that video with the cat is tooo weird! I love it! As well as the other, slightly creepy Valentines as well. Your's topped mine by miles! :D

Holy Cat! Becky! Scary!
I think I actually got that pirate one years ago! These are so warped--so funny.
WEIRD!
Those are hilarious! Except for the clown. I zoomed past that one so fast I couldn't even read it. So scary!!!
Happy Valentine's Day!
I'm still making valentines -- and having fun doing it. They are not photograph-worthy, however.
And, yes, tomorrow really is National Use a Condom Day - or something like that -- as well as Valentines Day (VD.)
Happy Friday the 13th and Happy Presidents Day!
Awesome, I just forund your blog, this is the first post I read and I loved all of it.
It looks like people in the old days had Valentines Day a little bit mixed up with Halloween!
WOW!!! That WAS creepy! YIKES!!! Which one, you ask??? ALL OF THEM! I think if someone gave me a Valentine like that I would RUN...RUN FOR THE HILLS!
Happy Valentine's Day, dear friend! May all your Valentine's be safe and...um... NONcreepy! :)
You know... I love me some kitty, soooo I had to watch Otto's video twice.
I hate to think I may have passed those scary Valentines to my friends in elementary school. I still like the ones that come with candy.
Sweet Valentine wishes,
Sara

I LOVE those Valentines! I wonder who developed them and whether that person just has a wry sense of humor or an embattled love/hate relationship with VD??
The Otto the Cat in PUUUUUURRRRfet Strangers was a HOOT! You are so great at "digging" up the odd but funny items! I even liked the creepy valentines!:)
Hope you had sweet Valentine's Day! Dana
