Let's Go!

I'm thinking about France today, probably because the sky is a brilliant blue and the weather is finally chilly, the way fall is supposed to be, and Carla Bruni is singing L'Amoureuse in my ear. Where oh where is my chocolate croissant? And the waiter with my café au lait?
Shoot. I'll just have to imagine. Tant pis.

I guess I'll just have to stare at the Air France poster hanging on my office wall and pretend. That's it above. I bought it from the guy who sells old books out of the back of his van at the Sunday flea market in Clermont Ferrand, and it's one of my favorite souvenirs of our French life.
I love how the New York sky scraper stands shoulder to shoulder with the Eiffel Tower, and that they're flying their flags like twins.

Are you a fan of vintage travel posters too?
This one's nice.

I love the style. The bright colors.
Even the lettering.

Hey, that's Chamonix, the home of one of our very first road trips in France! Where we learned that French inns serve breakfast on china, no matter if you have little Americans used to plastic and a 9 month old baby who likes to grab things.
Once we learned to negotiate breakfast, we had a marvelous time!
Back to travel posters...

Very pretty! I'm ready to go. Anybody want to come along? Where are you in mood to travel today?

Have a good Monday, y'all!
Love, Becky

Oh, how I would love to go back to Paris someday. I dream about it. And now I'll add Nice to that list too. I've heard such wonderful things about it. :)

Bonjour!
I am ready to go!
In the meantime... is Trader Joe's in your shopping orbit? They have pain au chocolat, and we agree it's very yummy.

I love your posters. When I was over there I bought several. I used them in my classroom when I was teaching. My favorite was from the Cannes film festival. They had made a face out of film for the poster. The one I got was huge. The size for the side of a tabac. This makes me want to do a post of pictures from when I was in France. Too bad the early stuff is still on slides. I've been scanning them into my computer, but I still have a ways to go.

My favorite poster is NICE - love the cars, palms, sailboats, beach, the lady, everything about it - that's a treasure.
The Chamonix train reminds me of one in Switzerland I rode that goes from Interlaken all the way up to 11,000ft to the top of the Jungfrau mtn. The train stays inside the mountain approaching the top. It also goes through the Eiger, where "The Eiger Sanction" was filmed.
Love the tour bus, makes me wish I had ridden in the one at Glacier National Park that's still in operation.
Those are wonderful posters - they all leave me with such a warm feeling, longing to hop in for a visit to that place and time.
Thanks for the dreamy vacation!

Hi Becky,

Love old travel posters. As a kid, I had my room covered with them. The places sounded so exotic.

So, when do we leave? I can meet you there.

hugs,
Barb

I'm a big fan, too! They are so romantic. I have one in my office, but it advertises a train in MN... not quite so exotic as yours!
