Ah Say, It's Foghorn Leghorn!

Today's Wonder of the World is...Concrete Yard Art!

Okay, so it's a little weird, but who could drive by a pasty white Grizzly bear rising out of a bush and not want to stop in for a closer look?
Woo hoo for strange lawn art!

I love roadside oddities, so when we passed through Ware Shoals, South Carolina, on the way to the Greenwood flower festival last weekend and saw this...

I made Todd pull over.
He had to! How could we pass by a giant rooster, an albino grizzly, and a lighthouse, all on the same block? We did it for the children.
And for me.

Ah say, it's Foghorn Leghorn!

And since it's almost America's birthday, say hello to this stony faced Lady Liberty. It looks like she needs some attention. She just doesn't look well to me. Maybe the heat was getting to her.

At least she didn't have to wear woolen cement pants, like this pint sized Confederate soldier.

The statues were wonderfully weird enough, but I found their arrangement delightfully odd as well.
Like this horse guarding the Ten Commandments.

Do people like yard art where you live? Flamingos? Geese in dresses? Frogs with umbrellas?
How about deer?

Or maybe a bright pink pig!

I'd put a pink pig in my yard when...

You know what I'm saying?

What's that?
Huh?

Oh, sorry Chef Pig. You know I love you.
Even if I keep you in the backyard where no one else can enjoy your piggy loveliness.
Here, let's distract ourselves with Foghorn Leghorn! Cartoon sized!

Have a wonder-full Wednesday, y'all!
Love, Becky

I love the flying pig! Too funny.

What interesting displays. We don't have any displays in our neighborhood that are as creative or elaborate.

Okay...this just cracks me up! I consider these places "Wonders of the South", because there are almost as many of these around the Carolinas as mobile home manufacturers. I've never had the guts to stop...I, too, would just want to take picture after picture! Question: did Todd stay in the car, or get out and buy you something?!

I'll put a pink pig in my yard when you do, LOL! That flying pig is hilarious! :)

There's a lot of this in Wisconsin too--very kitschy! And I wonder what kind of people buy this...

I am laughing at the thought of getting the white horse and watching the dogs spy him out the window!
Oh, the temptation!!

I'm not a huge fan of these things. I prefer plants.

I'm feeling tempted... mighty tempted... I'd especially love to put a fu dog in our yard. But I'm thinking it would look a tad over-sized. Heh.

Foghorn Leghorn is MY FAVORITE!!!

I also love eccentric people who put concrete statues in their yards. There were these people in Waco, TX, where I lived for a while, who had two concrete gorillas. They'd get them painted in costumes for all the holidays.

It was so weird because they lived in this gorgeous mansion otherwise. But I sort of loved it.

There is yard art all around us. I think South Carolina has more than its share!

Some of the yard art is creative, some beautiful, some tacky, some gross.
