Fences

This may not be a Wonder of the World

but it tickles me.
See, the phone numbers are the same.

It makes me imagine this:

Not exactly Child Care At Its Best, but hey, at least they're corralled.

This reminds me of the old advertisement I have hanging up next to my back door.
I love babies, and sometimes I start to get this nutty idea that I'd like to have Child #4. (Yes, I'm well aware that I have a soon-to-be 18 year old, plus two other kids and a dog that thinks he's my fourth child.) So I hung the advertisement up as a preventive measure. Whenever I start dreaming about baby toes and that sweet baby smell, I look at it and come to my senses.

Plus it's funny.

Of course, if you haven't had children yet, pay this no mind.
I love mine madly.

Bwaa ha ha ha.

(I really do!)
Happy Tuesday!

  1. I love it. What a great combination! If only someone in the family did bail bonds...

  2. Suppose it's safe to share this -statute of limitations taken into account n' all that. I was a climber. My mom tried tying me to a tree (rope through my little overalls) when I was a few months shy of 2 years old. Didn't work. I managed to get the overalls off, climbed 2 - 4 foot fences & ended up 2 streets away on one of our busier roads - the one that the trucks used.

A nice older lady rescued me from joining the dead possums on the side of the roadway. She also gave my mom the devil for 'letting me' run loose at that age. True Story!

Having survived childhood while avoiding therapy I'll say this - We never used ropes on our kids. Pellet guns were more effective. Tazers would have been better. (Kidding w/ you - we did a good job & the boys, now 31 & 27, turned out great - love 'em like crazy). Have a great day.

  3. Susan and Jaxpop, you two are hilarious! Won't you please move in down the street and keep me company? But then I guess I wouldn't get any writing done whatsoever.

  5. Farmgirl Cyn, by the looks of your blog (which I love, by the way) y'all look pretty merry to me! And you even have tons of happy animals!

Thanks for the kind words about the book!

  6. Becky's book is the BEST book you'll ever read about France. And I can say that. I was her acquiring editor at Random House.

You should have Baby #4. Why not? My fiance is from a family with four kids and it's really fun to visit his house. It's always so...alive!

  7. May, you are the sweetest thing to walk the planet. She is, people. She's amazing.

And May, I don't know about the fourth child. I think we are alive quite enough, thank you!

  8. You just invented a new simile.

"They go together like peanut butter and jelly . . . like meat and potatoes . . . like child care and fences . . . "

  9. If fences make good neighbors what does childcare make? I guess an opportunity for fencing in the children is the answer. I guess we can take small comfort that this entrepreneurial enterprise didn't come up with a more disturbing third business such as raising guard dogs or manufacturing explosives.

  10. Please - anytime your nest feels too empty, we can fill it up for a week or two with some genetically linked versions of Sarah and Ben. Let me know. They have darker hair and bluer eyes...but will do the job.

  11. Yes, la belette rouge, it could be much worse!

And Leah, I'll be sure to remember that! They are such cuties. And imaginary friend Gust must come too!

  13. You're welcome, Tara!

Hey y'all, I just found out that not only can you get child care and fencing at this establishment, but they also have a mobile home park (it's in the background of the picture) and rental storage units!

  14. That sign is hilarious!! Not sure if I'd trust either business. :)

It was fun touring your little neck of the blog world. We're practically neighbors--I'm in northeast Georgia, only about 70miles from Greenville.

    Blessings~
