You also raise some very interesting questions. The note from the church is just embarrasing. How does someone, or maybe even ourselves eventually, end up so alone at the end of life? Can the same stubborness that refuses the nursing home...be the same stubborness that leaves people isolated?Douglas Dahlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03485190672766219296noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6272729178612778511.post-78616877659484115522010-09-26T07:03:19.973-04:002010-09-26T07:03:19.973-04:00Thank you for sharing this update!

I have a lot of fond memories of that place and of the people I met there. Her improved living conditions and your relational and spiritual fortitude are both impressive.

At the risk of introducing an issue not so wonderful into a wonderful post, I also say, "Thank God for the social workers and therapists and the tax dollars that pay them and provide Medicare support for millions of Miss Minnie's to leave the squalor of substandard living conditions, inadequate hygiene and insufficient nutrition."

Sometimes wonders never cease because we have the corporate will outside the church to help those in our society who cannot help themselves by ensuring that everyone--not just "church-going folks"--pitches in their part to provide for those who cannot provide for themselves.Jeff Rogershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16608103319153981486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6272729178612778511.post-33774527302274406862010-09-25T01:40:44.899-04:002010-09-25T01:40:44.899-04:00This warmed my heart to pieces ... and, so good of...This warmed my heart to pieces ... and, so good of you to spend time with her.Kelly H-Yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07324529762031928328noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6272729178612778511.post-57473391437906550262010-09-25T00:02:22.051-04:002010-09-25T00:02:22.051-04:00There are so many wonderful things to learn in nur...There are so many wonderful things to learn in nursing homes....and you experienced many of them.Red Letter Believershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18028834960447509536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6272729178612778511.post-56513017573734642212010-09-24T23:38:35.366-04:002010-09-24T23:38:35.366-04:00That's the first happy nursing home story I th...That's the first happy nursing home story I think I've ever heard.
And yes, it is a Speech Therapist (such as myself) making her do those mean eating exercises. ;)CChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01537821831479150677noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6272729178612778511.post-225515888138556512010-09-24T21:19:03.164-04:002010-09-24T21:19:03.164-04:00Thank you for updating us about Miss Minnie.
